Moodle this week was about cause and effect. The second moodle was based on Richard Blaylock's work with the writing process worksheet. I think that his use of the writing process worksheet to help him with his cause and effect essay really made constucting his points easier.
Like I explained in moodle, since Blaylock used cause and effect in stages one and two shows that what ever essay you need to do, the writing process worksheet can be versatile to any essay's specifications. So I think having the writing process on hand will be very useful for any essay that is assigned. Although it is best to wait until Dr. Rivera gives her instructions.

Third times the Charm
Hey everyone! Well, the third test was not so bad. I thought it was fairly easy, except for a couple of questions. Like the forst one, I for the longest time could not think of other examples, but luckily Dr. Rivera gave me a chance to think about it more, and I managed to finish it. Thank you. I hope everyone did well on our third test, so I hope to see you all next week! Does anyone
know if we have class on Tuesday?

Moodles!
I did not blog about my moodle session, so now is the time. The cause and effect moodle topic was not too complicated. I liked the worksheet Richard did for his paper. He listed, organized and then wrote. It was easy to understand and not difficult to do. Besides that I hope everyone had a good Halloween.

Slipped
It completely slipped my mind that yesterday was Thursday and Thursdays are the moodle session days. It wasn't until this morning that I realized I was supposed to go on moodle last night. But since I had things to do today I wasn't able to do moodle until now. Oh what a busy day I had, thank gosh it is over.
Oh dear!
Happy Halloween my fellow peers! Hope your night was awesome. Anyways, I feel so behind in this class of ours. I guess it is because I focus more on my other classes than I do this class. Which I know I really shouldn't because I should balance out my focus for each class. I guess the reason I don't focus as much in this class as I do with my other classes is because my other classes are the classes that I just need to work extra hard at to succeed. So I am very sorry if you don't hear from me very often.

halloween.
Just at work right now. Waiting for things to happen. Just thought I post a blog on Halloween.
The moodle yesterday was quite easy. Had to talk about Reason and Cause. I also had to give an example for it. Well after work I have to go to the American Dialysis Center for the Prop A rally.
Its going to start at 4 and end at 6. Hope its going to be fun. I don't really know what I am going to do after the rally. My friends and I just might go around. About 10pm we're going to check my friends party at sinajana. Well got to get back to work. HAPPY HALLOWEEN! =]
Moodle Day
Today in moodle session we talked about causes and effects. And how to use a writing process sheet. I really think that using the different stages would really make your writing process much easier and well organized.
The Moodle Session
The moodle session was about cause and effect. I felt that it was quite easy because i have heard about cause and effect. I had a hard time getting to a computer because all the computers at the internet cafes were taken. I felt a little brain dead because I didn't have many words to say about the moodle session. I feel that the moodle seesion is very helpful because we get the exposure to the computers.
The Test
On Tuesday we took a test. It was the third test of the class. I felt that the test was easy and hard at the same time. There were some hard questions and some easy questions. The things that confused me were the questions with answers that weren't really in the textbook. The answers were how you interpreted the question. I feel that I did well but maybe a little bit better. I think I should have studied more just to reassure myself. I also got my grade in the class as of Tuesday. I'm passing the class with a 96%. I think that is really good considering my study habits.
Any guest speakers.
I've been really busy with college life and life at home especially with my sons school. As, I am the chairperson for his class; I've been trying to make activities for Halloween for his class to do. I've also been thinking of things to do for the months of November and December for the students. I'm just trying to get more involved with my sons school, trying to make it a good learning experience for him and as well as the kids. So, if you know anyone who can come to the class and teach headstart students some lessons or just speak to the kids. Please let me know. Thank you.

Cause and effects
When I think of cause and effect, I think before and after. I really think by using theses ideas for your topic it helps the reader understand you better. They can understand what your perspectives of in your paper. Besides all the of school, I want everyone to have a safe Halloween tomorrow, enjoy!

Test!
Oh, the test was not so bad. I hope I do better than last test. It seemed like the questiions were not as tough. I did leave some things blank but not as bad as the last test. I hope everyone did a good job too.
Make sure you all have a safe and Happy Halloween!!! .

Test 3
How did you do on the test? I think I failed.
That day I had a three chapters Test in Sociology. I studied for Sociology and English during my break. When I was taking my Sociology, what I studied in English was popping out of my head. It really sucks that when I took the test for English, I remembered all that I studied for Sociology. I tried my best for both test, so I am hoping to pass!
Today is a good day, too. I had a job interview this afternoon. After the interview, they told me that they will call me for another interview with the manager if they see that I am qualified. They called me after an hour to set another interview with the manager.
I watched Shiro's Head for an extra credit after the interview. The movie is very violent. But overall, I like the movie.

How did everyone do?
Hello Everyone!
I hope you all did well on your test #3.
As for me I had to skip it due to personal reasons and I have yet to take it.
Though I studied and I'm hoping that I do well. I'm pretty bummed out though,
it seems that I feel I'm falling behind in this course. The end of the semester
is drawing near, and I see myself getting behind in some classes. Though I'm
still confident that I can pull through. I should just focus, focus, focus!
See you all in our moodling session.

Cause-and-Effect...
Today’s moodle session was rather difficult for me. For some odd reason I was unable to understand and put into words my thought on what cause-and-effect deals with. I have read the chapter over and over but was still unable to understand. This is by far the first and hopefully the last difficult moodle session I would have to work on. Come to think of it, I haven’t really been able to understand the whole purpose of cause and effect since my high school English classes. Hopefully by the end of this semester and Dr. Rivera’s class, I will be able to understand and be able to put into thought and words what cause and effect deals with.
By the way...
HAPPY HALLOWEEN

Hi everyone! how'd everyone do on the test? I don't think i did that well but I guess we'll see the results next week..This week is going by fast don't you think? Just think about,it's almost the end of this semester. I'm excited actually..Well,I'll see you guys in class..Later!
Boo, did I scare you?
I hope I did. =D
Today’s Moodle session was pretty self-explanatory and refreshing because I knew of the topic beforehand, though Blaylock’s interpretation was efficient towards my understanding overall.
Causes and Effects are important in analytical works, especially in science. “The cause for that (pollution, gas rising, abortion etc.), have the effects of this (depletion of the earth, money declining in our pockets, children not being able to take their first steps etc.)…” We should truly consider the outcomes of what a cause and effect essay can contribute to our minds and others.
I quite enjoy writing essays, stories, and other literary work that demonstrates a cause and effect procedure. The reason being is that it broadens the perspective of others especially dealt with current economical topics, which happen to be argumentative.
Happy Hallow's Eve

Biting nails and twiddling my thumbs
Last class, we had a test dealt with two chapters, seven and eight. It was excruciating for that I had second thoughts for each question, which lend me to have my time consumed in one question to another. I simply do not want to take another test but then again, it is for my grade and better understanding of paragraphs and essays. I do hope to be well-prepared in the upcoming tests for that I cannot take another awful grade such as my previous test score.

Reasons and Results
Today on our moodle session we discussed Causes and Effects. Causes and effects deal with reasons and results. For example asking a question of Why? is a cause and the result of what now is the effect of the cause. The second part of the session was to discuss a writing process used. In my opinion, exploring my ideas is a great way to begin my thoughts. Organizing my thoughts is a big help especially when you are starring at a blank screen or paper. Well fellow classmates that is what we discussed on moodle today. I hope everyone has a fun and safe weekend. I will have a fun and relaxing weekend at the hotel. I will enjoy my three day weekend.
Happy Halloween!!!

Test #3
On today's class we had our third test. I am pretty confident this time about the test. I may not get an "A" but I know I did better than the last test. I get anxieties when it comes to taking a test. Well at least I know I got the extra credit correct.
Do not forget we meet on moodle next class. Happy Halloween and have a safe weekend.

Test #3
How do I start my introduction? I'll just discuss about our Test #3 experience. The Test was harder than I thought. There was alot of reading and exercises, that we had to do. I was concentrating hard. During the test, I needed my highlighter for the test. When I was looking for it, my vitamin water fell. At the same time, the cap broke and spilled all over the floor. I was so embarassed but frustrated at the same time. Sorry to everyone! The smell of the Kiwi was some-what strong. After I semi-cleaned the mess, I went back to my test. I stayed in the class longer than most people. When I asked Nicole for the time, I was late for World History. I couldn't be late since I had a group presentation. Thankfully, my group tried to stall as much as possible. I ran up to the third floor of the HSS building. I had to take off my shoes so I cam run faster. I looked so funny. Alot of people were saying hi to me but I kept saying "I took long taking a test, and now I have a presentation. Sorry, but I got to go!" My groupmates looked so relieved when I arrived. When I was presenting my section, I memorized my powerpoint and added more information. Sad this is, I went too fast. My classmate told me that I only took up 2 minutes. Oh well. I'm tired.
Thankfully, I am home and I get to see my two bundle of joy.

To fail or not to fail
That is the question.
The last test we took was literally hard.
I studied the text but it's different when you have to apply the work. I was so anxious and stress that what I studied for, I couldn't recall.

Thank God the test is over!
Well there goes our third test and I must say that I finally think that the test was easy because it was just like basically essays and you just have to answer some questions and yeah I'm glad were done and over with it. So hope to see you guys on moodle on thursday and just take care.

3T- Test Time Tomorrow
I am very nervous and upset at myself. Frustrated on top of that. First of nervous about the test, which is normal. We all get nervous for test time. Secondly, I am upset at myself, for not studying as much as I want to and should have. I am studying right now, and making a study sheet for me, to ease on my study skills. But I feel it's not enough, I need more time, and hope I hope from now til' 4pm tomorrow, I will have time to study in between and try to absorb all of that we have discussed in class. I will bring my book tomorrow as well as my study sheet to read more. I hope it could even help. I hope that when I do get off from work, I'll have a little time to study before class.
I want to get a good grade on this test, and I don't have enough time to study.
So help me God. =D
Hope all of you guys do well. Good Luck!

Attempting Poetry
Speak, word for word.
Expectations could be paralleled with compromise.
Leverage is the unjustified ultimatum.
Formulate better suggestion to achieve suitable outcome.
One, two, three, four.
Two starry eyes stared blankly at me, revealing nothing but unreadable gestures, causing my mind to oversee. You're still as a tree but breathing ferociously, and then our hearts began to beat rhythmically. One moment in a nick of time, our minds crossed, though unknowingly.
One, two, three, four.
Flat on a comfy couch, lounging, languidly, loving lividly, our bodies are like huge mountains to each other, as one body part overlaps one another. Our hands seemingly merge together, becoming one, occurring magically, whilst belonging rightfully together.
One, two, three, four.
Letting go of your hand cautiously, allowed me to discern an expression on your face, solemn and selective, though I sooth you momentarily, by slowing stroking your roughly smooth skin, with grace. You patiently eased, which led my eyes and stroking gestures to two small hills on your handsome, significant, breathtaking, features, allowing my fingertips to seize.
One, two, three, four.
Your petal like vibrant voluminous and vigorous lips are mesmerizing that I want to take a chunky bite, as I sip. Sip, or more of a kiss, however it's immoral, causing me to take a big risk. Though, these images flatter me, I know too well that it's just a simple daydream, and my eyes gradually collided with yours, in a hypnotizing scene.
One, two, three, four.
So marvelous, beautifully structured, and hard to miss, this lies above your voluptuous lips, adding humph to your facial expressions and personality. It's so dignified that I'm willing to take that risk and give it a kiss. You reaction, priceless as it could ever be, you are the man, who I'm willing to see, everlastingly.
One, two, three, four.
Evidently keen in every way, I rapped my arms, embracing every part of who you are, because between the starry eyes, tall appearance, coarse skin, vibrant lips, and apparent nose, you are magnificently incredible inside and out that I'm left breathless without a word to say, besides, you are my…

Another test
Another test on October 28.
One of the Moodle topic was about Tom's essay "Etiquette Boot Camp." It is not about how to look elegant, but how to be professional. I think it is important to have professional manner to impress people around you.

Hello and Goodbye Fever.
Tuesday, I didn't feel so good, and decided not to attend class due to terrible feverish accounts. However, I did overview the following subjects that were on the pamphlet, directing me to the paragraph and essays book. I also emailed Dr. Rivera to know my Test score which I wasn't satisfied with what so ever, though I know for sure next Test we have, I will overview every nick and cranny to achieve a higher grade than my previous test.

Manners for Our Island.
Moodle session was alright and very opinionated in my point of view, though that is what a moodle session is for, right? I enjoyed reading Mott's summarized Etiquette Boot Camp, which made me picture a lot in my mind because it was sort of vivid with the informative information given. Other than that, the process analysis (directive and informative) was easy to understand, and I hope all of you understood as well as I did. I'm looking forward to attending class next Tuesday! Goodness, it feels like I have missed lots of class sessions though, I just missed one. I would like to end this blog with, everyone having some sort of etiquette manner of taking care of our island, Guam. IF any given chance to clean our environment, we should do so.

Moodle doodle time.
Today is moodle session for all of us. Today we have to explain and give examples of the two types of process analysis. It was okay for me to do this session. I did not have any hard time explaining it and giving examples. It was pretty self explanatory when I read the definition to each types. Well everyone enjoy their day and see you next week.

Etiquette classes
Just reading that essay on etiquette classes. I wish Guam would have those classes. A lot of businesses are very unprofessional and it ruins their reputation because the employees don't know how to act in a professional way. It gets frustrating when dealing with people who are suppose to be professional. Guam businesses and also school should have these classes easily available for people who need to act more professional and mature.
Couple More Moodles to Go!
It seems like everything is just going by. Now we only have a couple more moodle session only two more months. Wow I never new college went by this fast. Besides that the moodle session was not too difficult. I liked the essay we had to read and the two process analysis were easy to understand actually it was self explained. So I would like to wish everyone a happy weekend and see you on Tuesday. I miss you guys already I haven't seen many of you this whole week.

Proper Etiquette...
Today's moodle session was about process analysis. Mott's essay which was more of a summary was good. He used both types of process analysis properly so that we the readers are able to understand the material and be able to input our thoughts that relate to it.
How often do you see someone practice proper etiquette? Where would you see someone with proper etiquette? From the moment I knew manners and respect, I have not seen many people practice proper etiquette. Taking that back, I have seen a few, but only when at a public formal event, such as a wedding or important event which takes place in a hotel ballroom.
Well, going to get to studying for the upcoming test. Turning off the music, taking out my book and notes. Getting into a comfortable state of mind to study. Good luck to all and see everyone on Tuesday...

Alexander the Great
Sometimes I compare my life to him, we know him from the
the great things he has accomplished and how much
he conquered in Eurasia.
I feel like things are going as I planned in EN100,
I'm achieving everything I wanted. I'm
also getting decent grades and I know for sure I'm going to pass
the class. On the other hand, Alexander was so sure
that he let his ambitions and dreams get to him, which
led to the Fall of Alexander the Great and Greece.
I am just going to continue to study and do my best.
Pink Analysis
Well, on Tuesday we started chapter nine, writing analysis by division. We then went on to talking about its procedures, the organization, and then the sequence of parts. Also, Dr. Rivera showed us the "geocities" site of the Guam Poet's club, because we could also submit poems to the site for our special project in replacement for taking our final exam. Aren't we all glad we got alternatives to our final grade? I totally agree. Anyway, it was not until we came to exercise one, where I went blank. I do not know Elvis really well, so Dr. Rivera gave us an alternative to do the exercise on an another famous singer, actor/actress, or on a figurehead. I chose Pink as my singer of choice. Well, she was sort of the first thing to pop into my head of famous people. I look up to her in a way because she pushes for non-conformity, and originality. Her messages, although can be somewhat obsene, allows her to speak her mind, and it surely makes a difference. Her song "So what" even though it is really popular right now, is so inspirational because, she knows that she is a strong woman, and even though she is going through a divorce, she is still her own person, and not hidden in the shadow of her husband or anyone. So, I am truly thankful for picking Pink as my artist to analyize because she is very much a person advocating for everyone to be themselves.

Directive and Informative Process Analysis
Today on our moodle session we discussed the two types of process analysis. The two types are directive and informative. Directive process analysis would be how to do something and informative would be how something was done. Another way to distiniush between the two is informative would show data or something true whereas directive can show how to prepare a meal or fix something. Those are some of the ways to tell the two types of process analysis apart.
I hope everyone has a great and safe weekend, see you all on Tuesday.
I hope everyone has a great and safe weekend, see you all on Tuesday.
Moodle Day
Well everyone, I am completing our moodle session as we speak. The first moodle was on the two types of process analysis, directive and informative. I can see that in using these two types of process analysis would give two different attitudes in our essays. In using directive process analysis, we tell our reader the action directly, no instruction told. Thus, in writing somthing like, "clean your plate" would seem to have a sort of strict tone don't you think? It really does matter which one you choose to use. In using a informative process analysis, its at first longer only because, the informative is used to explain to the reader on how to do a certain action. Well, our second moodle was on a student paragraph essay by, Tom Mott called "A Summary of "Ettiqutte Boot Camp" by Adam Gelier". Mott commented on Gelier's "ettiquette explanation, and he used informative process analysis. I liked how Tom got to the point in his summary of Gelier's "Etiquette Boot Camp", which was nicely written. All in all today's moodle was interesting. Hope you all have a great weekend!

The weekend is here
Well hello again everyone, so hows everyone doing? So the weekend is finally here and I know most of us are already starting, anyways I thought the last time we met on tuesday I thought it was pretty funny because when we were doing all those writing activities I was like lost and the only part I finally caught up on was when wee had to write about our hero. So have a nice weekend.
Tuesday's class
On Tuesday I was late for class. I had a valid excuse, however, that will be the last time I will miss class for that particular reason. Well as I walked into class it was the last ten minutes and we read from page 150 and answered the questions on the following page. I am not sure on what we went over on Tuesday but I know I will catch up.
On another note I was handed my test #2 and it was not too much of a surprise I failed. I hope everyone did well. I prepared for the test and when it was time to take the test my mind went blank. I wish everyone a great weekend and I will see everyone on Tuesday. Do not forget that Thursday is moodle session.

Our assignment is about informational and directional. Here is what I wrote:
The two types of process analysis is: Informational and Directional When writing informational, it's information about a certain topic. For example, how the chicken produces an egg. It is information about how the egg has happened. Directional is directions on how to do something. It explains the steps in order to accomplish your goal. For example, how to cook scramble eggs. The difference is that informational tells you how it has happened while an directional essay/paragraph explains the procedure. (How to cook scramble eggs) |

confused?
Taking our test #2, I was confident during the whole process. I studied prior and even made a study sheet for both chapters. That day though I arrived really late making all my concentration fade. But I still was confident that I did well. Today as I received my test, I was surprised. I did not do so well. Last test I didn't study but I got an A, and for the test we just took I studied and got a D? I'm confused. I guess the pressure is starting to dawn on me, that I need to make extra time in all of my studies. I really want to pass all my classes and do well. I just need to stay focus and keep myself motivated. Only a month away until the semester ends. I know I can do this!

Hi classmates! how'd everybody do on the second test? I didn't do so well the second time around. To be honest, I failed the second test..Oh well, that's what happens for not studying the material. I proud to say that the next test I will pass hehe. Well, see you guys next session..Peace!
Options for the Final Exam
Dr. Rivera gave us options so that we don't have to take the final exam. Its a special project which requires us to make a few poems and put it on a website for people to view. I feel thats a good option for us. It makes it easier on us because we don't have to study. We just have to make poems. I like knowing that we have options to choose from. I feel that it makes it easier to pass the class. I think its easy to write poems because it basically letting what you feel inside out and on paper. It also helps us emotionally because like what i put earlier, we can let out our feelings.

Hello to all,
It's been a hectic and very busy past weekend and beginning of the week for me. So busy that I forgot I had school today. It was my husband's birthday last friday, and had to prepare for his nephew's birthday party for Saturday. On top of that, I had to work on that same day. Sunday was a very tiring day for me, and my Husband got sick Sunday night with the flu, fever and cold and still sick up til now. So I had to take him to the clinic and was not going to come into class. I am very sad, and knowing that I just receive news that I didn't do well on the test. I studied but not as much as I did on my test one, like I said it's been busy. But I just hope that I'll be okay.

Reviews
Happy Sad Tuesday! Why do I have a image of a bomb in my blog? Are you ready? I did not do well in the test. For the first test, I hardly studied but I did so well. With this test, I studied well and I got a horrible score. I feel like crawling into Pagat Cave and scream. Just joking. I will study harder and better. I will be going to all the extra credits that I can.
We are learning how to write reviews. Afer this lesson, we had an exercise. I did mine on Madonna. Who did you do yours own?
Under The Pressure
Unexpected Meeting
Before class started, I thought we meet downstairs because I looked at our schedule and it said EC102. Luckily, I saw some of our classmates walking up to the computer lab(EC202). In class, I asked how come we are meeting in the computer lab, when our schedule said EC102. They just told me that it was said in our e-mail and Dr.Rivera even said. Well I'm glad I have good classmates.
In class, we got our test back and we went over it. We jump straight to the test because no one presented their quote. Which was ok because I think they are making their interpretaion really really good. I hope you guys did good on your tests because I didn't do all that good. Well, it's time for our lecture and I'll blog again the next day.
computer lab.
Today, we meet at the computer lab. Mike and I didn't know we had to meet there until we saw some of our classmates walking upstairs. I just got back my test. I don't really like what I got. I almost failed the test. I got a D! I think I'll try harder next time. I hope the next test is easier and I hope I get a better grade too. Michael was volunteered to present his poem. It's so nice and touching. I know that sounded gay, but it does sound nice. WOW! Our final exam is coming up soon. It is 200 points. I'm scared. I am not good at making poems. Hope I do well on the exam. I don't want anything bringing my grade down.

Mid-term
I was a bit confuse about the mid-term as well. But I tried my best. I'm not sure if I covered all the criteria. On Dr. Rivera's My test result is what I am expecting to get.

The Class
Today we are in the computer lab. We just got our tests back and I got a C. I feel thats what I deserve because I didn't really study. The next test I will study like I never studied before. We went through the tests to go over the questions we got wrong. I got many of the easy questions wrong due to lack of studying. There wasn't any presentations of the quotes. We discussed analysis by division. It is mainly used if you want explain how something works or exists as a unit. It basically breaks down the unit into its parts. It tells how the parts function and how they relate to unit as a whole.
I forgot.
I actually enjoyed the mid-term paper we had turned in last Thursday.
I like the fact that we got to reflect and talk about how we think we did well and how we contributed in the learning experience in the classroom.
I just remembered I forgot to mention what kind of grade I think I deserve so far in the middle of the semester. I hope I can get away with it and not have to get point deducted.

Great way to start this week
My weekend was funny because I planned to do nothing but stay home and study for my test which was today. The funny thing is that I didn't do any of that, instead I went to the island fair and when I came in my Intro. to teaching class I freaked out when they said we had a test. I always forget about the tests dates in most of my classes even this class, so hope your weekend was better and see ya.
Another Day in English class...
Today we meet in EC 202 (the computer lab.) [yay]
We reviewed our test from last week. [yay me... I passed] The grade I received is actually better than I thought. Hope everyone is satisfied with their grades. This test was quite a challenge.
I am also satisfied with my grade from my "Midterm Self-Reflection Paper".
We tried to view the Guam Poets Club, as a way to do our final exam rather than taking a test with many chapters, but technology was not working right with us. Hopefully we can view it some other time.
Now to finish our session...
Oct.16,2008

If there is a will, there is a way.
The moodle session, which I truthfully did a few minutes or second ago was interesting. It developed a greater understanding of putting references towards developing a sentence, making it more convincing and amusing. This term is called, exemplification. I, as a writer like to illustrate examples to explain furthermore on a topic, giving it a live come back, more so than other sentences. Though, it depends on what I write. Anyways, other than the late moodle session, I handed my essay earlier than most people, and I did quite well, but I know I could have done a much better job. I do not have to explain why but I know I could have done better if I implemented to type more effort into the self-reflection. Especially towards, Dr. Rivera's requirements which I overlooked after I turned in my paper and I went ballistics!
Measuring the amount you learn.
There are no excuse for me to be turning this in late but heck, I rather have it done than not to have it done or to not be doing it at all. Last, last, class we took a test, which I hope I did fairly good on, though at this moment, I'm over the edge scared to find out the exact grade I received. I know I should have been studying more, but at the exact same time, I had to study for my Biology weekly quiz on Tuesday. Three quizzes including English, biology and lab quiz. I was extremely brain loaded and I didn't have the good night sleep to over lap my confidence level. I hope that I did good. Cross my fingers, you guys!

a quote
I think its great that Dr. Rivera puts quotes on the test as extra credit. I like to give my opinion on them and its an easy way to get your test grade up even by a little.
I loved the quote that was on the test this week, it was a quote that was presented on the last test day. It was a quote from Abigail Adams, about how learning is not achieved by chance but you have to work for it. I think it is very true. Learning is something not everyone is willing to do and something most take for granted. Which I find rather sad because learning brings opportunity and can also make a difference. History tells us that there are many people who were oppressed for being different and punished for their want to learn. For example the African slaves that where brought to America were an oppressed group of people, some of them wished to learn to read and write and they kept pursuing that dream and few were able to achieve it despite the harsh punishment from their masters who forbid them to even learn the skills. So as a society that thinks learning is somewhat of a burden, we should think to ourselves and wonder what its like to be in third world societies shoes, it wouldn't be pretty. I love to learn and it is sad to know others don't.

I had an awesome week
Actually, I wouldn't say awesome because on Monday I was super late for my philosophy presentation, just ask Rolani, but I think I did alright on it. Also, I was really tired on Wednesday that I feel asleep waiting for my ride to go to work, so I ended up not going and I really needed those hours because my term is almost up for americorps and I still have a lot more hours to finish. Another reason why I think my week wasn't that awesome is because I had no clue about the test for this class on Monday and also no clue about the Midterm being due Thursday, but even though I had no clue about them, I still feel I did pretty good because I put a lot of effort into getting them done with the knowledge that I already had. Besides all of my weeks downfalls, I guess the reason why I might still give my week an awesome grade is because what is at the end of it, my birthday. I'm finally turning eighteen but I'm not that excited about turning eighteen like everyone else usually is, to me it is just a number, and from what I heard the people that made the law just randomly picked eighteen and twenty-one as the legal ages here and in the states, so I don't see the point. The actually reason of why I'm excited and won't let nothing bring me down is because I finally get to spend time with really good friends and family because I haven't been able to do so since school started and also the fact that it is my birthday. So I think this week has been pretty good even with the ups and downs it brought me because when I think about I've had worse and also somebody else in the world is probably having a worse week then me.
Extra Credit
Now I would like to talk about the extra credit. The extra credit was picked by draw and we were to go to the Marriot Hotel to help Dr. Rivera with her presentation for the IRA conference. I really liked the set up of the hotel, how book stands were put up for members to purchase. Then we were able to watch a Japanese felt show which was also nice to see. As for Dr. Rivera's presentation I think she did well but their was more people then she expected. I really enjoyed having this experience and it was also fun to get to speak with our classmates who also had the opprtunity I did.

The Online Session
On Thursday we had to go online to the moodle room. My day was really stressful because I couldn't find a computer. The topic was about exemplification. I felt it was quite easy. Hopefully it's not hard when we discuss it in class. There was also a midterm self reflection due. I got that in last minute. The reflection paper was quite east to do because its about our progress in the class. I feel that I'm doing good in the class. Hopefully I did good on the test we took on Tuesday. The moodle thing was really giving me a hard time because I kept putting the right user name and password, it wouldn't let me in. After about three times trying, I finally got in. When i got in I typed as fast as I could because it was getting closer to midnight. Hopefully I submitted my reflection paper correctly.
Mid-Term Plus
My mid-term was not so bad to start on. But I couldn't find the guidelines so I had to ask Dr. Rivera to send it to me again. Lucky I was able to check on my e-mail on Thursday so I was able to fix my essay a lot more. Ofcourse I typed the mid-term the way I expected it to be but when I received the guidelines I had to change almost the whole thing. Then I had so my moodle session on line but I was getting caught up on which pages to look over. I think I just overwhelmed with all my due dates, my head was still in shock.

The Tuesday Class
On Tuesday we took the second test of the EN100. It was sort of confusing because i didn't really understand the material. I got through the test and I really hope I pass it. Before the test we had a couple of quotes presented, and it was quite inspirational. The test was on chapters five and six. I felt I passed the test, but I'm not too sure. The test was sort of tricky for me mainly because to me some answers could answer more than one question. Overall I feel that I'm doing good in the class.
Test
Wow, our test was a little difficult for me to study for. My schedule was booked with things being done one after the other or on the same days. Man, wasn't that a bundle. I had two presentations to prepare for one on the same day as our test and the other on Wednesday. Then I also had two tests on the same day. One for ID 180 and the othe for English class. Trying to be prepared for all four was a juggle. But I was able to get through all four fine, hopefully the scores on the tests speak better. I also hope everyone else did well.

Moodle and a Paper...
Well as you all know, on Thursday we had to moodle. Not only that, but also our midterm self-reflection paper was due. The moodling for me went pretty good. As for the paper, I had some troubles, but I got it done and turned in on time. I just had troubles thinking about what to write. I hope what I write down is good enough for a good grade.
I'm still wondering I got for my test. I get goose bumps still thinking about it. I hope I did good and I hope you guys did good too. Well I guess I'm done blogging now and I'm glad I did both blogs at one time rather than not doing it at all. Have a good day and I'll see you all in class Tuesday or whenever.

Late Blog...
Hey fellow classmates! I got so caught up I forgot to blog earlier in the week. Well at least I'm blogging right now. Well if you didn't notice it yet, this is my first blog. Then right after this one, I'm going to do my second blog. I hope this doesn't happen agian.
As you know on Tuesday, two of our classmates presented their quotes. I tried putting thier quotes in my head so I could have the confidence for our second test. When we got the test I looked at it with a blank look. That's because I forgot to study and I also forgot there was a test. Oh well, hope whatever I knew was good enough.

finally finished.
I am finally finished with my essay. I cant believe I finished before 12. I almost ran out of time. Moodle was okay. There were three things that we had to do. There was turn in your midterm essay, explain about exemplification, and talk about the essay. I kind of had to rush on my essay. I haven't really started until today. I was just really busy with all my other classes.

Exemplification
What is exemplification? This is used to help writer gives interest to the reader. Extra information gives reader idea of what is written. Specific information convince readers, as well.
Exemplification is present to any type of writing. We will see this even if we don't pay much attention.

Another moodle session...
First off... how do you think you did on the test given on Tuesday? Hope you have a little confidence in yourself.
Today's moodle session was good in a sense. I read and understood to the best of my knowledge about exemplification. Using examples in our writing helps the readers better understand the material rather than them reading something simple without examples. I would prefer to read something that provides examples so that I would get a better understanding of the material. Also in reading Yegavian's essay, I was able to see how exemplification works. He used this process to its full extent. Most his essay was written using exemplifications.
Now to blog about the Midterm Self-Reflection Paper... How did everyone feel they did on theirs? I hope you all have as much confidence as I have about mine. I have thought about doing this paper since we were first told about it. Unlike the "All About Me" paper, this was by far the easiest paper I was able to write. I was able to put into words everything I wanted to talk about in this assignment. For the past papers I had to do, I had difficulty. I think this paper was easier for me due to the amount of knowledge and education Dr. Rivera had provided since day one of this semester. Do you all agree with me? If so, help me in showing our appreciation to Dr. Rivera. THANK YOU VERY MUCH DR. RIVERA. YOU ARE A GREAT EDUCATOR. I HOPE THAT YOU WILL ALLOW ME THE OPPORTUNITY FOR ONE DAY, WHEN I BECOME A TEACHER, TO USE THE PASSION YOU HAVE FOR TEACHING YOUNG ONES LIKE MYSELF AND OUR CLASS!
See you all on Tuesday.
Saying goodbye
Hey there class,
Well I bet most of you were wondering where I was on Tuesday. The thing is my friend who I've known for such a long time was leaving to the PI for college. I'm very close to her so I wanted to see her off at the airport. I know that it is probably not a good enough excuse for missing class but it was very important to her, the family, and myself.
As for my weekend, it was full of endless projects, and long hours of working out in the yard. I am trying to get back on track with everything, that basically means starting fresh with no regrets, debts, or problems. Hopefully I'm excused, even though I think I'm not. Stay fresh guys and gals.
Rowena.
Moodle and Mid-term
So today we had moodle, and we have our self-reflection (aka: midterm) due as well. I will turn in my paper later, but I did complete our moodle session. We had two assignments, but both had to deal with exemplification. I think exemplification is essential in order to come up with examples to "convince" or explain your topic to your reader. Finding examples is important than just facts alone, or your own opinion, so the reader would probably want more to convince your reasons why, in your topic. I like Yegavian's essay, I would say he was clever in his topic. What amazes me is he took a concept that was totally overlooked, unoticed because of our busy lives. We at times, don't get to stop and just enjoy life, outside of our stresses. So reading his essay reminded me of how diverse our home, our surroundings, can be, and to make sure to take the time to notice. Hope everyone has a good weekend!

IT'S TIME TO CELEBRATE!
IT'S TIME TO CELEBRATE!
I am finally done writing my Midterm Self Reflection essay. I submitted it to Moodle. I will finish the other assignments tonight. I am at home right now. I didn't attend my Political Science class in the morning because I was so tired from last night. I have a valid excuse, it was my birthday! Just kidding. I don't have class until 5:30 since we are all meeting in Moodle.
(After) Today in Moodle, we learned about Exemplification. Not only did I learn how to spell the word, but I know the definition. Exemplification is a technique that writers use to create a better visual to their readers. It is to convince or amuse. I think even before I knew the word, I commonly used Exemplification in my writing. It's a very useful too.
Have a good weekend!
