Can you believe it?

Can you believe it? People thought that white supremacy was going to prevail in this 2008 Presidential Election, but in the end it was the minority who won. I know there is still the KKK and other groups somewhere out there and that Barack Obama's life is in great danger because of it, but can you believe that after 143 years after the battle over slavery and 40 years after the Civil Rights Movement, a black man is elected President of the United States. I sure can't because those event were not to long ago if you actually think about it. But I believe the people voted for him because they believe in him, like how people believed in Dr. Martin Luther King and Mahatma Ghandi. Which I find incredible because I saw how many supporters Obama had and the numbers just blew me away. This election just proved to me that majority of the people today don't care about what race you are or what your background is, but care about what you can do for them. I am really glad I live in this time in history. There are so many things going on, its absolutely amazing.

It was different back then; racial status. I know in today's society people still discriminate against colors but also people have been really open to colors. That's why Obama became president they didn't think of him as colored they wanted changes and went for the best person who can best represent the United States and its people.
